Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.

I am 40 years old and have been married for 15 years. Between us, my husband and I have 3 children, his son, 28, my daughter, 18, and our daughter, 11. We also have 5 beautiful grandchildren. Being transplants from Indiana to Mississippi, we don’t see our extended families as much as we’d like, so try to take as much family time at home as we can.

Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?

I’ve been a Chat Host for 7 years now.

Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?

I played bingo at a site, and was very active in chat. I learned the ins and outs of the games and how everything seemed to work. Like a lot of players, the job fascinated me, and I (like so many others) thought I would be good at it. I talked to one of the GHs and expressed an interest. When they had an opening they had me send in my resume. It was just as a floater position for a few hours a week, but it gave me the training and confidence to become the Host I am today.

Q4: What do you like most about the job?

My favourite part of the job is the social aspect of it. I am such a social person, and I love the fact that my job is to spend hours in a chat room and talk to people and we can laugh together. You get to see people at the best and worst times in their lives and you get to share in their joys and their sorrows with them.

Q5: What is the worst part of the job?

The worst part of the job is being “the bad guy”. Every site has rules that need to be followed, and as Hosts it’s our job to enforce those rules in the chat setting. Nobody likes being told ‘no’ or that they can’t do something. Just as there are good parts to our job, this is the bad part, having to tell the players that they can’t or shouldn’t do something.

Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?

My favourite games are 222s with a Twist, About You, and my newest game, Chain Reaction.

Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?

Playing About You one night, I decided to ask questions about “Have you ever…”. We had such fun talking about the things we had and hadn’t done in our pasts, we spent a hilarious time that night…lol

Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?

A good Chat Host has to care about the players in their chat room. It’s not enough to just provide a good time or play games. You also celebrate their accomplishments and achievements with them, and support them when they go through hard times. Being a good Host means getting to know your players on a personal level and being more than just a person who plays games with them but becoming a friend.

Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?

I would like to see online bingo become regulated by the U.S. government, so that players can feel more confident in their financial transactions with bingo sites.

Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?

Being a Chat Host is the most challenging, nerve wracking and wonderful job that I’ve ever had. I enjoy going to work and spending time with my players. I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.
