Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.

Well, let’s see. My mother lives with me and my husband and our four children. We have 10 cats, 2 dogs, 4 lizards and 20 fish. We are one big happy family. Oh, and I LOVE bacon.

Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?

I started to host in March 2002 and I was REALLY bad at it for a while.

Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?

I relentlessly annoyed and befriended the head CM at Bingo Gala. She and I met for a wild time in Tunica and she helped me get my foot in the door. We have been friends ever since. Even though she gets a kick out of cherry tomatoes that I will never understand… I have managed to look past that.

Q4: What do you like most about the job?

Being able to be at home where I am needed most. With mom, the kids, and all the pets, this is where I need to be. Some times it’s not where I want to be, but can’t have it all!

Q5: What is the worst part of the job?

Now I would be a very bad CM if I ever said anything negative about the job or online bingo, so I have nothing to complain about or dislike at this time.

Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?

Races, Tic Tac Toe and Woohoo are the ones I like the most. The players really enjoy them so they are most talkative with those games. After all, what’s a chat host without chat?

Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?

Lots of outrageous moments over the years, but this one sticks out in my head right now…. A few years back, a player discovered how to post in chat and make it look like another player said it. This player complained about BBS to me, acting as if she were another player. The other player (her dear friend) was EXTREMELY confused.. as was I! She was swearing up and down she never said it while laughing at the thought of it. The other player fessed up and we rolled about that for at least 3 hours lol.

Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?

The most important things are patience, multitasking, patience, multitasking, and finally patience. Oh, and an internet connection is helpful.

Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?

I would like to the USA to figure out a way to tax or regulate online bingo so that everyone can play freely again.

Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?

To anyone looking to get into hosting... Just because it LOOKS easy and you think the chat hosts are getting paid to sit on their butt and goof off with players, does not mean it is so! I do not know the number of potential hosts I have trained who left when they saw that it was not so simple. There is a LOT of hard work that goes into being a chat host and for those who make it look easy, you can triple that work load! It’s a great job and can be rewarding, but it is a REAL JOB and there are no short cuts to doing it right. Keep trying if it’s what you really want to do, but prepare yourself!
