Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.

I just turned 45 and have a wonderful multi-talented husband (he can cook and do laundry!! LOL); and 2 sons – 21 and 13. I love a good adventure, mostly fishing and camping. I also love popular and ‘break-out’ music and I enjoy reading when I have quiet time. I live in a small retirement town where we have LOTS of bingo halls and I have been playing since I turned 18. I’m a bingo NUT and try to go every chance I get!!!

Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?

4 years.

Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?

I started talking to other CMs and one of them recommended the forum at CM of the Year Web site. I wanted to be sure I had all the equipment I needed to stay powered up and connected, so I went out and bought a UPS (uninterruptible power supply - it’s a huge battery and when the power goes out my PC will stay on for about an hour and a half). I already had high-speed Internet with a dial-up connection for backup in case of cable outages; and 2 home PCs so I can always be available for work. Then I worked on a good “want ad” posting which I must have edited 10 times after I posted it, and I started getting some attention. About 3 months later, and on my 3rd contact from my want ad, I was hired by Saturn Bingo Network and have been more than happy to be here for 3 years now.

Q4: What do you like most about the job?

The diversity of players’ cultures in the chat room. I love chatting with people from all around the world. I love the arts and culture and find it fascinating to hear about life in the UK, Australia, Norway, Germany, Greece and many, many more places.

Q5: What is the worst part of the job?

UGHH….I get very uncomfortable when a roomie chastises another player for winning. We all have our streaks – winning and losing – and I see it changing every day. I really love that the majority of our roomies get hyped and cheer happiness for the winners.

Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?

I love to run a bingo tourney. It is so exciting for the players and this is when they seem to be having the most fun too.

Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?

Once a roomie made a funny remark just as I took a gulp of coffee, and, well, yes I laughed and choked and sprayed coffee all over my monitor. Since I use cream in my coffee, of course I couldn’t see a thing until I cleaned the monitor, which surprisingly survived the ordeal. LOLLL

Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?

Being kind and attentive to the players’ needs. You have to pay close attention to be able to respond and make every roomie feel equally welcome in your chat room.

Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?

I would love to see the recent bank restrictions overturned. I find it very unfair that people can pay to play ‘free’ games and also to see all the pornography they want on the Internet, our banks allow that; so then why can’t we pay to play whatever we want?

Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?

I have been hosting for 4 years now and I still feel like ‘the new girl’. When I get bored I always mutter to myself, “sheesh I wish I was working”, and for that I feel very lucky. I found my niche in life as I can say that I truly love my work and I find it to be such a privilege and a pleasure to be a CM.
