Mary from A1 Bingo
Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.
I live in Southern Ontario. I share my home with my yorkshire terrier, and all her little quirks. I took an early retirement from the position of payroll administrator. I found that I had too much time on my hands, so decided I wanted to try a position where I could work from my home, and thus came my interest in becoming a bingo chat hostess.
Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?
I have been a chat hostess for almost 2 years now and have loved every minute of it. I have my coffee, my roomies to chat with. who could ask for more?
Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?
The site where I was playing at the time, had an opening and I decided to try my luck at it, and was accepted for the position.
Q4: What do you like most about the job?
There are so many things that attracted me to the job. First of all, I love being able to speak to so many people from so many different countries, and learn about them. I have learned so much from the people I come in contact with everyday. To me it is not a job, but a daily learning experience. The people I work with are great. We are still in the beta testing stage and we are all learning together.
Q5: What is the worst part of the job?
I know this is hard to believe but there is no worst part to my job. I have the morning shift and I do not dread getting out of bed, or waking up early to come on to the site and have great conversation with great people!!!
Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?
I like to think that we have a variety of games which are unique to A1 Bingo. The game I love the most is Sink A CM (battleship on the number board). It is so great to see the roomies working together to put us CM’s in the water. It is great to see the players so enthusiastic with the game.
Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?
Well there have been quite a few of them… most of them typo’s, lol... but it has to be between being dressed up as a christmas tree by the players (where I eventually explode and they steal my chair) to having players come streaking through my room. I have also teased players when we are playing a game so that they think I can not see their response… they do love to have fun.
Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?
A good chat hostess meets, greets and shows the roomies they are the most important people there are. A good chat hostess knows when people want to be serious about a subject, and would like to talk about things bothering them; or they want to have some fun and joke around. A chat hostess should always keep in mind they are there for the players and without the players there are no chat rooms. They are first and foremost on my list of priorities... the rest takes care of itself.
Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?
The thing I would like the most to see, is a site that makes everyone feel “at home” when they join the site, whether it be a free site or a pay site. I would like to see sites that are “user friendly” for those who don’t have much computer experience, but can come into a site and “get around” without too much difficulty.
Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?
I would like to thank all those responsible for having the honor of being the Featured CM of the month. The players and CM at A1 Bingo are the best.
My only comment is that becoming a chat hostess has become a great part of my life and a decision that I will never regret. The people you meet are amazing. It is fascinating to hear while you are being snowed under, Australia is having a heat wave, or it is raining heavily in England.
We were voted as #1 New Site for 2005 for which I am very proud to be a part of. I foresee that we will also have a very exciting 2006.
All the team here at CMOTY would like to say a big 'TY' to Mary.
If you'd like to nominate someone to be our 'Featured CM' next month please mail Evie.
