Davie from BingoHall

Q1: Tell us a little bit about you.

Davie

I am a male who grew up and lives in Western Pennsylvania. I am a social worker. My job entails helping people with development delays and mental disabilities. I enjoy the work. It gives you a good feeling to know that you have helped a person. I recently had best experience of my life. I was the childbirth coach for a co-worker of mine. I got to see the whole delivery and even cut the umbilical cord. It was a miracle and made me realize how precious life is. I have a lot of hobbies. I am a Little League Umpire for the past 13 years. I enjoy all other sports including professional wrestling (the best male soap opera on TV), football and hockey. I enjoy talking about current events, cooking, food and movies. I am a big Disco fan. Disco rulez. I guess my tastes are eclectic. One minute we could be talking about politics, the next about movies, then about SPAM and other foods. I would like to think of myself as a laid-back easygoing person who enjoys a good time and good friends.

Q2: How long have you been a Chat Host?

I have been a chat host for 10-months at the best bingo site on the net, Bingohall.com.

Q3: How did you become a Chat Host?

I was a player at the site and became friends with one of the CMs. She recommended me for the position. I had several auditions with the site. When one of the chat monitors unexpectedly quit, I said I would be willing to do it. Fortunately for me, BingoHall gave me a try. I thank them for the opportunity and hope that I do them well.

Q4: What do you like most about the job?

There is not just one thing I like about the job, but I like several. The foremost is the players. You meet so many people from varied backgrounds and places that you cannot help but learn something new every day. I also enjoy providing the players a break from their everyday lives, and hopefully giving them some fun. The players make the site. I enjoy working with the other CMs and the Customer Service people. Between the players, customer service people, and the other CMs it is like one big family. I like conveying the sense that no matter who you are you are welcomed and have an important role in my chat rooms.

Q5: What is the worst part of the job?

The worst part of the job is not always being able to answer all the players' questions as quickly as I would like. The other thing would be dealing with rude players who try to bring down the atmosphere of the chat room.

Q6: Which are your favorite chat room games?

My favourite chat game is not really a chat game but a theme. It is called 'Disco Party'. The good people at BHL allow me to turn the chat room into a discothque. We all pretend to be back in the 1970s. We have live disco music playing and special chat games that relate to the disco era. I also have a DJ that will type the lyrics to disco songs that the players want and a bartender who serves the best cyber drinks on the net. It is a blast. Basically, you have to experience it to realize how much fun it is. The next favourite chat room game is 'Camping'. That is where the players pick either the letter B, I, N, G or O. If BINGO is called on the letter they choose they win. I like this because it avoids any problems with slow computers, plus it gives them a better chance to win comps.

Q7: What is the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst you have been in a chat room?

The funniest thing that happened in the chat room was we have a regular player who is the sweetest person in the whole world. She cuts and pastes her next out phrase, but sometimes she forgets that she has cut and pasted other things since her next out phrase. Some of the things that have appeared are hilarious. However, the funniest cut and paste she did caused the chat to freeze on everyone because it kept repeating what she cut and pasted. Everyone thought that they were going nuts and had to reboot.

Q8: What makes a good Chat Host?

The biggest quality a good Chat Host must have is to be able to check their ego at the door. They need to realize that the chat room revolves around the chatters and not the Chat Host. The first rule of business is to make the chatters happy and feel welcomed. The room revolves around the chatters not the Chat Host. Also, you need to be a good listener and have a good sense of humour. Lastly, I think not to take yourself or your job too seriously. Being able to be laid back and let the chatters run the chat room and pick the topic of conversations which the chat host steers.

Q9: How would you like to see online bingo (as a whole) develop?

I would like to see online bingo become more interactive. Maybe being able to have different people who speak different languages being able to be in the same chat room chatting and understanding what the others have to say. I would like for the ability to have voice chat in the bingo rooms, but if that happened a lot of what is said might get filtered. LOL

Q10: Any other comments that you'd like to add about being a Chat Host?

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the management of BHL (Cristie and Marco) for having faith in me and giving me a chance to be a Chat Host. Also, thanks the Customer Service people who have taught me the ropes and been patient with me. Last but not least, I would like to thank all the regulars in my room. They are what make being a Chat Host so special. If it were not for them, I would not be a Chat Host. I do enjoy my job and consider it a privilege that so many people let me be part of their lives. It is a lot of fun. I am thankful that I have the chance to do this.

All the team here at CMOTY would like to say a big 'TY' to Davie.
